8月23日 What a year so far...Well I cannot say that 2009 has been all that great so far. I am 41 now and the bod feels like it is falling apart! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in May and am just now starting to feel "ok", whatever that is, again.
So besides my health we have the death of my grandpa that we are living with. I will admit I am coping better then I ever thought I would but there are days when it hits me all over again. And then there is my grandma. The shock has worn off and now she is just sad and lonely. Mom and I try to get over there as much as possible but we have our work and families to care for too. Right now my brother is living with her but I'm not so sure that is a good thing. We like that she is not alone for safety reasons but she likes her space and they are finding it hard to share it.
We have also had several friends pass away this year, to the point where it is starting to freak me out being around so much death.
On a brighter note we had a wonderful vacation to Washington DC!! It was better then we ever could have imagined it to be and I am so glad that we went. I will have to post our pics one of these days when I get my new computer. Ours crashed and burned this summer and I am using Tyler's for now but hope to get my new one ordered this week.
Tyler is a sophmore this year and is in the process of getting his drivers license!
I hope that all of you in blog land are well and enjoying the summer. I am off now to check up on all of you! 4月7日 Have you all given up hope of ever hearing from me again?I hope not! I will admit that I have the Facebook bug and spend more time there and on my Valley Mom's website but I will never give up on Spaces! Truthfully I have been trying to stay off of the computer except for work and researching things that I want...like a new camera, new printer, furniture for Katie and deck, new phones...hmm my list is long, and unfortunately not as long as the zero's on our tax check!
So our big trip this year is to Washington DC! We are so excited. This is a trip that we have been planning for a long time but wanted to wait until the kids were alittle older. Here's where the camera comes in. I want to have a good one that will zoom farther then mine will. I think I will need it to get good shots of the monuments and things. We are taking my MIL and Bruce's sister and her family with us.
I also need a new printer because ours broke MONTHS ago and it's really hard to run a home based business without one! I just don't know what I want though. I have the money just can't decide. I am looking at a Kodak because of the ink prices.
I am still working at the preschool but enjoying Spring Break this week. Even though that means sharing the computer with Tyler...who is standing over my shoulder right now waiting for it!
If I don't get back before have a wonderful Easter!!
1月17日 Brrr, it's cold outside!I really do hate the cold but oh it is so beautiful when it snows! It has been VERY cold here but the ground is white and the sun is shinning so I can tolerate it.
As with last year this year I have vowed to get in better shape, eat better and all of that.
Christmas was great...nice and relaxing. New Years was too. We actually didn't do anything on New Years Eve. Bruce and I were in bed before midnight. We watched the ball drop, kissed the kids and each other and went to bed.
Now we are back to work and school and I am trying to get organized. I am so tired of half finished projects and an unclean house. I used to be such a good housekeeper and now I just plain suck at it! We are making alot of headway on the basement but still are not finished. I will have to post some new pics. I just realized that the last album I have up is of our vacation in June!
I also have made a vow to work harder on my Entertaining at Home business. It really isn't going so well and it disappoints me but some of it is my own fault. I need to be more aggressive with it. I do have a party coming up next week that I am pretty excited about. It is a contact from the Cooking Show I did so someone outside of my friends circle. If anyone would like to have a catalog party just let me know and I will be happy to send the supplies to you!
Ok, well Bruce and Tyler are watching Police Acadamy on tv and want me to come and watch it with them. Such a classic! 12月31日 GRRRRRI am so pissed off! I had a whole big blog I was typing and MSN "encountered an error" and I lost it all! I am so fed up with them!! Them and Time Warner Cable are on my LIST!!!!
Ok, I will be back later tonight when I have more time and update on our Christmas and just life in general. Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year's Eve!! 12月26日 Merry Christmas!Hello blog land! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Click below to see our Holiday card!

We will be going to my parents house in an hour or so. Katie and Bryce are already there helping with the cooking.
I am determined to be happy and relaxed today. Life has thrown us another curve. Nothing with my kids or husband but someone in our extended family. It has made me look at life and my family and decide that I cannot MAKE them be happy. They have to choose it for themselves. I have decided that I don't want to be the glue that holds this family together anymore. I have my own family to care for. I told my brother this recently...that I was tired of being the one that "cares" in this family. He said that everything falls to me because I have broad shoulders and I have my act together. Maybe this is how everyone see's me but I don't feel like this. I have a great marriage and three great kids...not something that everyone in my family has but I have worked hard for this marriage and these kids. Other's could have what I have if they choose to. I know this is all confusing and I'm not even sure why I am writing it except that this is my journal and I feel like I need to get it all out. The only problem is family reads this and I don't want to hurt anyone. There I go again. Caring!
Well if this wasn't a Thanksgiving bummer then I don't know what is! 11月11日 And the beautiful weather is GONE!Ugh, I cannot stand cold weather!
I just have to brag about Katie...she made HONOR ROLL!!! I honestly was just about in tears at her Parent/Teacher Conference. Neither Bruce or I ever believed that she would do this well in Middle School. Especially since she had been struggling so much. The teachers say that she works very hard and that she earned every grade she made. Needless to say we are thrilled to pieces!
My Taste of Home Entertaining business is finally taking off. Taste of Home Cooking School had a show in my town on Thursday night and me and another rep from this area were the Taste of Home Entertaining consultants that represented the company at the show. I booked nine parties just that night and have a stack of more names and numbers that I need to call and book a party for them! I am so excited!! This could be major income for my family!!
The kids are out of school today and Bruce and I are off work so we are planning to rent a movie, pop some popcorn and spend some time with the kids. First off though I need to go out to my moms and have her hi-light my hair then I am getting it cut tonight. Sooo...I had better head off here and get going.
But first I want to say THANK YOU to every Veteran for their service and dedication to this wonderful country that we live in. GOD BLESS YOU!!! 10月24日 Wow. I'm really getting bad at this!I know I start every entry this way but I seriously cannot believe that it is almost November and that I have not been on here in almost two months!
I am finding that work is exhausting! I have to take a nap most days after being with eight two year olds!
We celebrated Bryce's 7th birthday this month! I cannot believe that my baby is 7! I can however say that I do not miss the baby phase. I guess I am getting old. I am excited that he is now old enough to take on long trips as we are planning DC next summer!! It is going to be a fun filled jam packed exhausting trip and we can't wait!!
Tomorrow my Valley Mom's group is hosting a Halloween party in our backyard. I really hope it doesn't rain as there are about 50 people coming and I do NOT want to move it indoors! The League dance is also coming up on the 15th. Mom and dad are going with us again this year so I am excited about that.
Grandma and grandpa are doing ok. Grandpa looks awfully frail but he is getting out in his yard and puttering around so that is good. The kids are doing "ok" in school. Tyler brought home a D on his report card so that did not go over well and Katie is struggling in Science and Band. I guess I am going to have to figure out how to pay for a flute tutor for her. She really likes it and she doesn't have much else extra that she does.
Bruce is really coming along on the basement. The drywall is up. My dad needs to finish the wiring but while we are waiting on that I can start mudding then paint! We are going to put a drop ceiling in and then carpet last. I was hoping to have it done by Thanksgiving but think that might not happen. We all cannot wait for it to be finished!!
Ok, well today is my day off and I swore I was going to clean plus I have some errands to run before I pick up Bryce. Hope you all are well and enjoying this beautiful Fall weather!! 8月28日 Yep I figured it was about time for my montly update:)This may be a long one. I feel yacky!
First of all I forgot to mention in my July post that we celebrated Tyler's 15th birthday! I cannot believe that I have a 15 year old that is in high school now! Speaking of high school he is not liking it so far. Too hard he says. It has been an adjustment for he and I both. The first morning of school I stood on the porch and watched my baby walk off to the bus stop and cried and cried. None of my kids have ever had to ride a bus before and the fact that it was off to high school was just all to much for me.
Katie started middle school this year and is havng a hard time also. (You will find that none of us are dealing well with the changes lately...well except maybe Bruce and I just tell him he has no heart! JUST KIDDING!
Bryce did great the first week of school but crashed and burned this week.
Bruce is working hard on our basement. I will have to take some pics and post them. We have drywall up!!! It is still my goal to have this done by Thanksgiving and Bruce is certainly working on it. He is on vacation next week and wants to work on it all week. I will be working half days but can help when I get home.
Well now about me. I guess my big news is actually getting a "real" job outside the home. I am now teaching preschool to 2 year olds four mornings a week. I am excited and have met the kids already at Open House but do not start work until next Tuesday. I have however been in the preschool just about everyday since I was hired last Friday to get my room ready, take CPR training and just familiarize myself with everything. I am a bit overwhelmed right now but know that once school starts it will all be ok. I am trying to decide what to do about League. It starts in September and is quite a time consuming volunteer thing. Especially the fall which I just don't know if I can handle right now. I feel like I have bitten off more then I can chew but we really could use the extra money right now. I left a message with the president of League yesterday so we will see. My Taste of Home Entertaining business is not going so well either...hence the job teaching. I am doing so much better in my presentations but not getting party bookings and good sales. I just don't know how to fix this but have found, as I was afraid I would, that it sounds easier then it really is.
I really miss talking with all of you and am going to try to get around to see you all tonight. It is 3:30am here and I can't sleep. I was so exhausted tonight that I feel asleep at 7:30 and woke up at 1am with a cold and to much running through my mind...I just can't shut it off! 7月25日 Ok, so once a month is good right??I can't believe that it is almost the end of July. I feel like the summer is flying by and I haven't gotten to enjoy it. It has just been way to busy around here. I honestly want to write about it but am really just having trouble sitting in one place for very long. I just wanted to stop in and say hello, let you all know that I am alright and ask for you to please pray for my grandparents. They are having some issues right now. They both fell in their home three weeks ago. Grandpa broke his ankle and is NOT dealing with it well and grandma hit her head on the concrete floor in their basement and really banged herself up. It has been a stressful time for our family trying to get my grandparents, who are 90, to make some living arrangement changes. They are not cooperating! So anyway hope you all are having a great summer and I will talk to you soon! 6月25日 Post Florida!!Oh my gosh I cannot believe it is almost the end of June already!! We have been so busy but having a great summer so far. School ended with all good grades and everyone passing to the next level. That is always a good thing, right?
The week after school got out I was running like crazy to get us ready for Florida. My days were compounded by the boys baseball games, hair appointments (even for the dog!), doctor visits, my first mammogram and finding and getting a DVD player installed in the van. It all came together and we left on June 7th. The day the floods came!
Florida was great as usual. We met my parents down there and spent 8 beautiful days on the beach. We did some shopping, sight seeing, miniture golf, rode wave runners, Bruce and Tyler took in a Tampa Bay Rays game and we ate out every night!
Now that we are back home we have opened up the pool to find it cloudy, the pool pump sounds funny, my Crab Apple tree that I got for Mother's Day last year died
I am slowly getting everything back in order. The pool is clearing up, I have a name of someone to look at my pump, the garden center said they would give me store credit for my dead tree even though it is one month past the warranty and my rose bushes are coming out of it.
I also need to clean my living room carpet and paint the walls because I bought ALL NEW FURNITURE!!
Ok, well I think I have caught you up on all that is going on. Oh one more thing. Tyler has decided to quit Cross Country and Track and his dad is having a hard time with this. I must admit that I am disappointed too but it is his life. I really think it's because he has to condition during the summer and he doesn't want to. Not sure. He says he doesn't like running and I agree if he doesn't like it then he shoudn't do it but he is so good at it. Please pray for him in hopes that he figures it all out. 5月22日 Mother's Day, Birthday and Anniversary!!May is my month! Of course then I am done for the rest of the year! 5月10日 My new adventure!!I have copied this from my Taste of Home Entertaining website. Please feel free to check it out.
Hello! I am Melissa Wilcox, Independent Consultant, from Terre Haute, Indiana. I am so excited that you have stopped by my website and are interested in learning more about Taste of Home Entertaining!
First, I want to tell you alittle bit about myself. I am a stay at home mom to three beautiful children and married to a wonderful man for almost 17 years now! I have had many "jobs" in my life time and am actually trained in nursing, however, I quickly learned that with a family it was not for me. I am so excited at this point in my life to have found Taste of Home Entertaining. You see I will turn 40 next week and have been feeling alittle restless lately. My children are all in school now, my baby started Kindergarten last fall, but it is very important to me that I am still available to them when they need me. For this reason alone I have not gone back to work. I have often thought of having my own home based business but truly could not think of what I wanted that to be. That is until I was introduced to Taste of Home Entertaining! I love my home and I love opening my home to family and friends so this company is perfect for me! When I first saw the catalog I wanted everything in it! I truly would not have become a consultant if I did not believe in the company and their products. Believe me this was a HUGE step for me! So take a look around. View our catalog and please let me know if there is anything I can help you with! ~Melissa 5月2日 Track, baseball and everything SPRING!!Oh my gosh have we been busy! The last couple of weeks have been good but very busy and I am just lovin this spring weather!! I just wish that it would warm up alittle bit more and that my allergies would take a fly'in leap!!
Tyler pitched his first Babe Ruth game last week and did awesome!! I unfortunately was not able to be there because it was a late game and I stayed home with the other two to put them to bed but Bruce called me with the play by play. Tyler was flying high when he got home that night! He was so nervous while out there but once it was over we had to scrape him off the ceiling! He was supposed to pitch last night but he had a track meet and we didn't get to the baseball game at all. Also last week Tyler won his first track race and again I was not there!
Katie had her four year check up at Riley on Thursday last week and got all good news!! Next year is the big 5 year mark and we are planning a trip to DC to celebrate. We will attend the Reach the Day convention and then do some sight seeing. We plan on being there for a week or so. The Reach the Day Convention is a Childhood Cancer Awareness convention that is held in DC every year.
Well tomorrow Bruce runs in his second Indianapolis Mini Marathon. He said this morning he is getting nervous. I know he will do fine. He is ready for it. He has stayed on his training schedule so I know he will be fine.
So today I am off to clean grandma's house and then tonight we will go to the pasta dinner for the mini. Hope you all have a great weekend!! 4月21日 Spring is here!!!Wow I do believe this might be the longest I have ever gone without blogging! Sorry bout that!
Baseball season and track season are here and so my days are no longer my own. I spend them in the van driving from one event to the next. I love it but by the time it all is coming to an end I will be ready. Both boys are playing baseball this year and so Bruce and I will be running between two fields trying to get it all in. Some nights Tyler will be running track and changing in the van as I am racing to the baseball field. Bruce is coaching Bryce's team so most nights he will already be there. And through it all Katie will be complaining that she doesn't want to go!
Speaking of Katie she will be done with tutoring after this week. She likes her tutor and it has helped her tremendously but we will both be glad not to have to go anymore. She is not eligible for this program next year so this really is it. I have a meeting with the assistant principle of the middle school in a week to discuss Katie moving up, seeing what programs are available to her and so on. I hope it is a smooth tranfer for her. I am a bit nervous by all of it.
Saturday night I had a Taste of Home Entertaining Party at my house. It was a lot of fun. I had never had a home party before but I think it went well. I like the products that they sell but they are alittle pricey. The shipping on top of the tax was what was bad. If we could just buy the product then that would have been alright.
Well I need to get off of here and get my shower. I need to clean grandma's house today and I haven't been feeling to well so it may take me awhile. I think my allergies are messing with my head. I feel so light headed and out of it. I am sneezing and have body aches too. I told Bruce last night that I felt really weird at the party...almost like it was an out of body experience. I am starting to remember things about the night but don't feel like I was there. Does that make any sense?
Oh and another thing before I go...we had an Earthquake on Friday! I know many of you probably felt it where you are too. Oh and one more thing Tyler got his braces off! He looks so good! I cannot believe that it has been alittle over a year since he had them put on and now they are off. He has this really cool retainer that you cannot see. It just fits over his teeth.
Ok now I am really going. I will get by to visit you all soon I promise! Have a great day!! 3月26日 Ugh! I am so ready for March to be OVER!It has been one thing after another this month! First of all our very good friend and neighbor Marge passed away. It has been very hard on all of us especially the kids. My poor children have been to three visitation/funerals in six months! I pray that we are done for this year. I truly do not know how much more they can take. Tyler is having a very hard time with Marge's death. Marge was 83 but this came unexpectedly and so soon after our friend and neighbor Tina... Marge and her husband Bob have been our wonderful friends and neighbors for almost nine years. They have watched our children grow up and treated us just like family and us them. In fact the kids call them grandma and grandpa:) We loved Marge very much and she will be missed.
Secondly we bought a new van...did I tell you all about that?
And finally...can anyone help me...my Folders on my computer on my MSN email page have disappeared! They were there Friday morning and Friday night they were gone. All of them...with tons of emails in them! My In Box and Out Box and all of those are still there...the ones that are standard but the one that I created to save read emails in are all gone. I have looked everywhere and so has Support. They have no answers for me. Has this ever happened to any of you? Of course if I could get this thing to back up I could just restore them but I can't get it to take a disk. It keeps telling me to insert a floppy! My gosh who uses those anymore??
*sigh* I'm so sorry that I don't have better news. Seems like I am always such a downer these days. 3月9日 I am sooo ready for Spring!!!I thought I would brighten it up a bit in here and make it alittle Springy. I am also blogging at night! I never do that but my "other" site that I play on is running VERY slow right now.
I really want it to warm up. I am so blah and tired of the cold. I just don't want to do anything but goof around on the computer or read...which leads to napping.
Hmm, I will need to check and see if I have any updated pics of the basement and post those. We haven't done to much the last couple of weekends because we have been doing other things but it is still coming along.
It seems like we are always busy but I cannot think of what to tell you we have been doing! 3月3日 Yeah for my kids!!!Friday was an awesome day!
Also, when we got home on Friday night laying on our table was a letter from Kaite's school telling us that she has been chosen to represent our elementary school in meeting the Mayor and receiving the Outstanding Citizenship Award for 2008!!
Let's see it has been awhile since I have blogged. The basement is still coming along. We hit a snag with one wall and it is taking us sometime to figure it out but we will. Oh and we bought a new van!!
Hmm, also this past week I went to a Taste of Home Cooking Show with Terre. I had never been to one before and really liked it. It inspired me to cook better and more often. I just haven't started yet.
Yesterday was so beautiful here and today it's raining and supposed to cool off again. I am soooo ready for Spring!! Ok off to see what you all have been up to! 2月12日 Two hour school delays-YUCK!!We have had more two hour school delays this year and last then I think we have EVER had! Yes, we actually get to sleep in but it makes the morning harder in my opinion. The kids-and I mean KATIE!-get to watching TV and then don't want to get ready for school and makes everyone run late. I think Tyler may have been late today because I dropped Katie off first for Safety Patrol. I hope they don't make him get a tardy slip. There were still a lot of kids going in when I dropped him off but he had to go to the Health office for a sick slip because he missed yesterday.
Tyler and Bryce were sick again Sunday and Monday. This time they had fevers of 103., bodyaches and cough. Bryce also had diarrhea. It has just been a horrible winter for us!
I have three Dental Ed days down and two more to go. I don't know why I dread them so much I really enjoy the kids. I am just such a home body!
I need to get out of this funk I am in. I need to clean my house! Do you all remember when I would post "cleaned house today"? Notice that I don't do that anymore? Because I don't clean anymore and I hate it! I feel like such a slob.
Let's see is there anything positive to say. hmmm. Bryce has his last basketball game on Friday night and we are going out for pizza with the team. Next is baseball and Tyler has decided that he wants to play this year too so it is going to cost us over $100 for both of them to play! Oh wait-that's complaining again. Isn't it?
Well I am off to see what you all are up to! I will post somemore basement pics here in a bit. We have two walls up now!!
